Members give our event a high satisfaction rating.

Our second event of the year was held in central Watford. This was the second in the series of our presentations on franchising followed by networking over a buffet supper. This was held at a smaller venue but again proved popular and was fully booked.  Those present, which included a number of new faces, gave a high satisfaction rating for the the event and said that they found it very useful and good fun.

Alok Mitra gave a brief update about  the developments and explained that the network has been busy in London working with the Hindu Council UK (HCUK) with its engagement with the GLA group in moving forward the business and representation agendas. He also said that a large reception was being planned in London by the Mayor of London in association with City Hindu Network and HCUK. To this event some of EMBG’s London contacts and members would also be able to attend. Due to the popularity of this event the numbers allocated to EMBG will be restricted. Attendance to this event will be by invitation only from the Mayors office. EMBG will be looking at arranging similar events in London in due course and then our members will get their chance to attend.

Alok explained that EMBG will be arranging a large event (250+) in Watford on the theme of  “How  SME's can benefit from the 2012 Olympics”  ( Latest update - This is currently being planned for 20 September 2007).

Being based in London, EMBG (UK) will provide both strategic directions, valuable contacts for all our members and engagement with the Greater London Authority Group and central Government to help get things done. Another significant improvement has been the creation of a delivery team who will be responsible for developing new products, driving the strategy for the networks, forming links with other networks and the business community and coordinating the delivery of products and services for our members.

Robert Looker from CREATE  gave another excellent and informative presentation on ‘New Routes to Enterprise, buying a franchise’. This is the second part of a two part event EMBG have run to help businesses find a lower risk strategy to growth. In January Robert explained how to grow businesses through franchising and licensing and for this one he went though the opportunities and restrictions relating to acquiring a franchise.  For further information on this subject you can also visit the CREATE website at www.createproject.org.uk where you will find a number of free online tools to help you.

Following the presentations  the members enjoyed making contacts over the final part of the evening. This was networking while enjoying a buffet supper. We kept the same  format as the previous meeting as this was very successful. Again we noticed that a number of members made new contacts and we would remind you that It is well worthwhile for everyone to follow up and keep in touch with the contacts made as you never know where the next big lead will come from.
