By using successful and experienced business leaders and selected partners with a track record of delivery and commitment to our network, we aim to promote Entrepreneurship, and help to identify and manage business risks thereby creating an environment for sustained business growth vital to the regional economy.
The Directors of EMBG are all volunteers and are not paid a salary for acting as Directors. There are no shareholders in the company and therefore all monies earned or grants obtained are used only for the delivery of services and promoting the interests of you, the members.
The first network of the EMBG is the Minority Business Network (MBN). This network was established in 1995 to support and represent ethnic minority businesses in Hertfordshire. For many years, MBN had been Hertfordshire’s only ethnic minority business association. It is a nationally recognised, voluntary managed organisation and currently has over 1200 members. Read more…..
The network has undergone significant changes in terms of the way it is managed, governed and funded. We now have a robust business model to expand and grow our network while providing real benefits to our members.
Our rapid expansion have required us to take steps to look for alternative source of funding. Originally East of England Development Agency (EEDA) had expected to fund the initial development of our organisation but due to cuts in their budget and a change in policy they are no longer funding minority business groups. We are intending to keep our basic membership free, but an annual fee will be payable for those members who wish to upgrade to premier membership, where they will enjoy special benefits and we would expect that by using our services they more recover they annual fee. More details will follow.
We currently offer opportunities to network and build business contacts, provide business information, training courses, regular newsletters and special deals negotiated for our members from reputable suppliers. We have plans to expend our services to provide you opportunities to grow your businesses. These will be rolled out once we can secure funding to run them.
